Whether you’re an experienced angler looking to upgrade your rod, you’re just starting out, or you’re looking for your kid's first fishing rod - at Freddy’s the options are endless. We pride ourselves on having anything and everything that you could want from your fishing rod - so let’s look at where to start.
There are a number of different styles of fishing rods available depending on the type of fishing you are likely to undertake. For beginners, a spinning rod is an ideal solution as they’re good for practising and refining your skills. If you’re a more experienced angler looking for a strong rod that has exceptional control for catching large fish, you can’t go past a baitcaster rod. At Freddy’s, we have a range of rods crafted specifically for your fishing location, such as surf rods, rock fishing rods and boat fishing rods.
Our range of fishing rods come in a variety of lengths, each purpose-designed to suit the kind of fishing you want to do as well as the types of fish you want to catch.
A 6 or 7ft rod is ideal for lake or boat fishing, particularly if you’re wanting to catch strong fish that swim close to the hull. A good rule of thumb is the longer the rod, the further it can cast. Because of this, if you’re an avid surf or rock fisher - a longer rod of 8-10ft would be perfect.
Our range of fishing rods are made from a number of different materials, such as fibreglass, graphite and composite materials.
Typically, a fibreglass rod is more durable and ideal for rougher seas and waters where your line is likely to get snagged. This durability does mean that the rod can be quite thick and therefore less responsive to your movement which many anglers find hard to manage.
Our range of graphite fishing rods are the go-to option for longevity, and control and for those that enjoy fishing with lures.
If you’re looking to spend a bit more for quality and high performance our range of composite fishing rods are ideal.

Used this last weekend for a two night trip. We had strong wind and heavy rain on the first night and we stayed completely dry. Really impressed with this tent and super convenient size. So easy to put up and pack down solo also.
We purchased the gazebo hub to attach to the front of our fiamma awning on our jayco. It is well made, very roomy, waterproof and provides plenty of extra storage room or an additional room for others camping with us, to sleep in. Easily attached to our fiamma and was very quick to put up. Also very quick and easy to pack up. Fits easily back into the bag provided with it. Very happy with our purchase.
Ordered the 1550 early mid January on back order. Sent on 28th and arrived on 31st. Setup was easy. Was apprehensive on pole size by the reviews but you just have to make sure you size the poles correctly. Large at front and small at back. Really good quality material. Much thicker than my oztrail family tent. Mattress is super comfy. A few drips when seasoning but I really drenched it 3 times. Will review once I have used it. Highly recommend so far. Beyond expectations.
Have set up and weathered the swag and found that it’s extremely roomie (even larger than the photos and product video). It can be a challenge to set up as a single person, but with a few goes I’m sure I’ll work out an order and method that works every time first try.
The corner clips in each corner are extremely tight! And when you do finally get then on, they barely cling to the pole frame and gape open. A small breeze makes them “click” and fling right off the pole. I am hoping that the canvas stretches sufficiently to solve this with more use. I even weathered the canvas with the clips zip tied to help aid canvas stretching. It’s not yet known how this will effect the overall swag.
Overall, well made. No leaking during weathering. My one small gripe is that the mesh is a tad “gapy” in that it’s not No-see-UM mesh. It’s not as fine as our ARB swag, and we’ll see if this causes an issue with midges.
I've been using this on-site as my esky and it's bloody awesome! Was looking for an esky with a solid build and this one takes the cake. Rubber seal keeps contents cold for days on a single bag of ice and it's large enough for my backside. Saves me sitting on the concrete floor, the handle is strong as and it's already proven to be a worthy investment.
